Have I Outgrown Anime?

Sigh... Lately I haven't been interested in any new anime. I'm looking for anime with substance, where the characters have depth and relationships are developed. (By relationships, I mean how characters connect to one another, be it in a romantic or non-romantic level.) I just can't get interested in anime where the fight scenes drag on and on anymore. I stopped watching them when I found myself fast-forwarding through the long fight scenes in Bleach and becoming impatient as to when the storyline will finally progress. Have I outgrown anime, I wonder?

But no. I will continue to search for anime like Nana, Rurouni Kenshin, Paradise Kiss, Nodame Cantabile, Beck, Kimi ni Todoke, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Code Geass, Death Note, and Ouran High School Host Club. I will continue to look for anime with psychological and mental battles, not just purely physical ones. They must be out there somewhere.

  1. Yes, I've seen Ayashi no Ceres. But that was a long time ago and now I can't seem to recall the story. :P

Right now I'm watching the anime for Paradise Kiss. I've already read the manga and seen the live action movie. Two episodes into the anime and I'm thinking it's just as good. :)

  2. Watch Sword Art Online. It has action, fight scenes that are not dragged on for episodes on end, a ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP that is actually realistic and develops. It has sad moments, happy moments, funny moments, frustrating moments, and beautiful animations to go along with the beautiful plotline. You may have heard a lot about it already, but it is DEFINITELY worth your time even if others say otherwise. Then again this is purely my opinion, but if you look around, there are way more good reviews about this anime than bad ones. I really REALLY recommend this to get back into anime.

  3. Watch Sword Art Online. I wrote a whole speech about why it was so good, but my internet crashed and I can't seem to type it out anymore but I'll try.

You want romance? It has a realistic romantic relationship that develops from a budding plant into a beautiful flower.

You want adventure? It has fight scenes that don't drag on for episodes and beautiful animations to go along with it.

It has amazing osts, sad moments, happy moments, funny moments, frustrating moments, and an amazing plot line with a few twists here and there.

Characters are easy to like, with actual character development.

Overall, it is definitely worth the watch if you want to get back into animes. Then again, this is purely my opinion, but if you look around, there are way more good reviews about this series than bad ones.

    1. Thanks for the suggestions. :) Yes, I've seen Durarara and Skip Beat. Naruto... I kind of got turned off when I learned my 8-year old niece loved to watch it. Made me think it must be really simple for someone that young to understand. As for the others, they're old anime, aren't they? Somehow I don't like watching old-style anime. I prefer the newer bishies like the ones in this list: Top 50 Hottest Anime Guys. :D
