My Thoughts on Highschool of the Dead

I just loved Highschool of the Dead! I didn't think I would after watching the first few minutes of the first episode. I mean, the numerous boob and panty shots kind of turned me off and made me think it was just another brainless plotless pointless anime that only succeeds in portraying women as objects. But I decided to watch at least the first episode until the very end since the main character Takashi Komuro was really cool. :)

Then the adrenaline rush or whatever you call it kicked in. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat, bracing myself and screaming with my eyes wide open. I would say Highschool of the Dead is the only zombie show, animated or otherwise, that I have actually enjoyed watching so far. To be honest, it's quite addicting... and delightfully horrific!

A bit of warning though: Highschool of the Dead is NOT for the faint of heart.

    You mean episode 12? Yes, I've seen it. It didn't really seem like an "ending" though, huh? :) I'm looking forward to the OVA release of Highschool of the Dead this April 26 and the much anticipated season 2, which will probably be out by the end of this year or early 2012. :)

    I share similar thoughts. I thought the numerous boobs/panty/whatever scenes were pretty cheesy at first, but then the story and action just drew me in. The series is fantastic to say the least (although the OVA is way too much for me). I don't even know how I ran into Highschool of the Dead because I don't even watch anime. However, I'm glad I watched this one. Rei and Takashi are my favorites.

    I should add that I even have two volumes of the manga coming in the mail. That's how much I liked it!

    Right? The story and action draws you in without your realizing it. :) How do you find reading action manga in general, TheMetalAdvisor? When reading action manga like Highschool of the Dead, I sometimes have trouble understanding what's going on especially during action sequences without dialogues. The still pictures can't quite tell the story like anime can. :O

    I agree with you about action manga and the impression this anime gives you at beginning. I also didn't like it to start with but I really got into it after a few episodes. Takashi and Saeko are my favourites.

    I love High of the Dead Sakeo is my Favorite she's bad-ass and who couldn't love the guy with the glasses omg he just makes me love him.
